Is TÜV registration necessary?


Yes, absolutely! Once the device is installed in a vehicle both the type approval and insurance cover will become invalid! The vehicle must be taken immediately to an officially recognised expert or inspector at a technical inspection centre or to an officially certified monitoring organisation for inspection and confirmation of the prescribed modification approval. A TÜV supplementary part certification in accordance with section 19 par. 3 of the StVZO (German road traffic licensing regulations) must be submitted when presenting the vehicle for inspection.

 

Are the optimisation systems also suitable for vehicle engines with Euro 5 and Euro 6 exhaust-emission standards (EU 715/2007)?


Yes - without limitation. The corresponding TÜV supplementary part certifications are available.

 

Warranty applicable to the optimisation systems


You will receive a 2-year warranty on all "Diesel Power" products, valid from the date of purchase by the initial customer. We also offer a comprehensive supplementary warranty for a period of 12 or 24 months from the date the additional control unit was installed.

 

What level of quality can I expect from the Diesel Power and MultiMotion optimisation systems?

 

  • The Kaufmann Motorenteile AG quality management system is in line with the ISO 9000 family of standards.
  • All products have e1 certification issued by the German Federal Vehicle Registration Authority.
  • TÜV supplementary part certification in accordance with section 19 par. 3 of the StVZO (German road traffic licensing regulations) is available for almost all vehicles.
  • All components are manufactured in Germany in accordance with German quality standards.
  • Development, production and sales are all under one roof.

 

Will the insurance group of my vehicle change?


The vehicle's insurance group will normally not change. However, some insurance companies handle this situation differently so we recommend that you contact your insurer and submit the TÜV supplementary part certification to them.

 

Will the emission class of my vehicle change?


Subject to the TÜV supplementary part certification in accordance with section 19 par. 3 of the StVZO, the emission class will not change.

 

Is it also possible to install the optimisation electronics on vehicles fitted with diesel particulate filters?


Yes - without limitation.

 

How is the fuel consumption affected on engines with optimised control units?


Normally the fuel consumption will be reduced by approximately 0.5 -1.0 litres per 100 km. This depends however upon the driving technique used. If the engine is run at maximum power very frequently and for a longer period of time, then it is possible that there will be an increase in fuel consumption.

 

Is special maintenance necessary for a tuned engine?


The regular factory-scheduled maintenance intervals will remain valid.

 

Can I install the optimisation electronics myself?


Yes. Comprehensive documentation is provided together with the electronics.
In each case only the individual vehicle manufacturer's original plug connectors are used.

Can the optimisation electronics be supplied in the form of an additional on/off switchable option?


No. Vehicle type approvals do not allow for different performance variants of the same vehicle. The type approval would become void each time the device was switched on or off.

 

Are there any limitations on the use of biofuels?


No. Biofuels can continue to be used, provided their use is approved by the vehicle manufacturer.

 

Will the service life of my engine be reduced?


In normal and proper use no reduction in the service life of the engine is to be expected. One important reason for this is because the overall engine speed - and therefore the internal friction acting inside the engine - can be reduced as a result of the optimised torque curve.

 

How do the optimisation electronics actually work?


Our new MultiMotion® technology with high-performance processors allow us to make custom modifications to the original engine control unit's software. This means that we can tune each corresponding control parameter to its optimum value for each driving mode while still maintaining the emission limits, including the Euro 5 and Euro 6 exhaust emission standards.

Optimisation is achieved by the direct control of sensors and/or injection valves using characteristic curve values as a function of the original parameters.

The standard safety features programmed into the engine control unit at the factory remain untouched.
