DIESEL POWER and MultiMotion® quality and certification

DIESEL POWER places great importance on the operational reliability and durability of the products fitted into vehicles.

The quality management system fulfils the requirements of both international and German road traffic legislation in line with ISO 9002 and is subject to the strictest controls.

The electromagnetic compatibility of the products used in the motor vehicle sector has been verified (e1*72/245*2006/28*4697). All DIESEL POWER and MultiMotion products have e1 approval for electronic subassemblies.

For the electronic components fitted to motor vehicles, on-going certification work in respect of performance and emissions is being carried out in accordance with section 19 par. 3 no. 4 of the StVZO (German road traffic licensing regulations) and AirCare® (Canada). As at January 2012 over 500 TÜV supplementary part certifications are available for more than 3,000 different vehicle types.

Please note

We do not offer modifications to datasets programmed into engine control units at the factory - so-called flash or OBD tuning. Such tuning is of dubious value and can be dangerous because not all of the parameters required for the protection of the engine can be taken into consideration when parts of the original software are modified.

Checking retrospectively installed software is not possible. Returning control units to their factory default settings is a complicated procedure and will give rise to additional costs. When software updates from the original vehicle manufacturer are installed, the expensive "tuning software" is overwritten and lost.

In the case of warranty claims the vehicle manufacturer can clearly identify that the dataset has been modified. The warranty may then be deemed completely void.

For vehicles with Euro 5 engines only approved chip tuning devices for increasing performance and torque are permissible in accordance with Regulation (EC) 715/2007. For all other types of tuning, supplementary certification in accordance with section 19 par. 3 no. 4 of the StVZO (German road traffic licensing regulations) can no longer be issued.

Warranty

The vehicle manufacturer may however, not refuse to recognise its statutory liability for defects (warranty), despite the vehicle having been tuned, if the installed component has all of the required approvals such as ABE, e1 approval and TÜV supplementary part certification. The car manufacturer must still honour warranty claims even if accessories that have not been approved by the factory have been installed in a vehicle - unless it can be proven that the damage was caused by the aftermarket component.

Function and design

The use innovative high-performance electronics designed especially to meet the highest demands in the motor vehicle sector means that the systems from DIESEL POWER and MultiMotion are leaders in quality, safety and reliability.

No software modifications are carried out to the original factory mapping programmed into the vehicle manufacturer's engine control unit. Likewise, we also do not change any hardware components in the engine control units fitted by the vehicle manufacturer.

The highest quality digital components guarantee the optimisation of performance, torque, fuel consumption and emissions.

The software of the original engine control unit remains in place in its production version which means that the functions of this control unit also remain for the protection of the engine and other technical components.

DIESEL POWER and MultiMotion place great importance on the operational reliability and durability of the products fitted into vehicles.

TÜV supplementary part certification

Increased performance using chip tuning devices

All technical modifications to a vehicle must always be entered onto the vehicle registration documents. This is particularly the case for measures that increase performance.
The legal basis for this is set forth in the German road traffic licensing regulations (StVZO).

In order to obtain TÜV supplementary part certification the following inspections must be carried out:

  • An exhaust gas emissions measurement in accordance with EU Directive 70/220 or 715/2007/EEC
  • Vehicle noise emission measurement in accordance with EU Directive 70/157/EEC
  • Engine power measurement in accordance with EU Directive 80/1269/EEC
  • Top speed measurement in accordance with ECE Regulation no. 68
